Matthews, United States - January 3, 2018 /PressCable/ —

E.R Plumbing Services of Charlotte, NC has sponsored and continues to sponsor, promote and volunteer through multiple charitable events, all of which benefit the Charlotte community. The Charlotte plumbers delivered 31 beds to families in need through the Beds = Dreams campaign, collected and delivered toys to children in need through the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department 2017 Toy Drive, and worked the phones for donations to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in December 2017.

In January 2018, the Charlotte plumbers continue their charitable efforts by sponsoring, staffing and volunteering for the upcoming WSOCTV Steve’s Coats new or gently used outerwear drive. This comes at a time when Charlotte is experiencing record low temperatures.

Those interested in helping can:

* Drop off a new or gently used winter coat at the E.R. Plumbing Services office during office hours between January 1st and January 14th, 2018. E.R. Plumbing Services Office is located at 648 Matthews Mint Hill Rd Suite C in Matthews, NC.

* Stop by the WSOC TV station between 10a-7p on January 10th, the special collection day. The WSOC TV Station is located at 1901 N Tryon St in Charlotte, NC.

E.R. Plumbing Services staff will be manning the office and the special collection day to accept donated coats and to process the coats so they are ready for distribution.

“Last year 21,636 coats were collected,” says Dave Parker, owner of E.R. Plumbing Services. “Thanks to incredible partnerships and the hard work of many volunteers, a number of those coats were cleaned and on the rack at Crisis Assistance Ministry within fifteen hours of being donated.”

The company’s owner, Dave Parker, also volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte and a local Room in the Inn location. Several other staff members volunteer with these charities as well. Those interested in volunteering or donating new or gently worn coats can contact the Charlotte plumbing company for details of ways to make a difference.

France's PSA Group to offer 40 electric vehicles by 2025

Jan 20, 2018

DETROIT — The CEO of France-based automaker PSA Group says it will offer 40 electric models across its lineup by 2025, and it plans to sell vehicles in the U.S. within 10 years. Carlos Tavares told the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit on Wednesday night that PSA already offers mobility services in the U.S. and soon will start car-sharing in some major cities. It will use its experience to learn the market and return to U.S. sales. Such an approach "will minimize the risk of not understanding what the U.S. consumer is expecting from us," he said. Tavares wouldn't...

Autonomous cars loom, but the Detroit auto show goes on

Jan 20, 2018

DETROIT — The North American International Auto Show in Detroit opened to the press this week with one big question hanging in the air: How will autonomous vehicles change the industry? The answer is still unclear. In the meantime, automakers continue to put out new vehicles of all shapes and sizes, including small cars, SUVs and the all-mighty pickup truck, which dominated the show. All will be on display when the show opens to the public Saturday, with a charity preview on Friday night. Here are five things we learned from the preview this week: TRUCKS ARE KING Pickups are...

IndyCar unveils 2018 race car at auto show in Detroit

Jan 20, 2018

DETROIT — IndyCar unveiled its 2018 race car — and Mario Andretti is evidently a fan. "I hear a lot of positives, and there is a negative in all this," the 77-year-old Andretti said playfully. "I don't have a ride yet." Andretti's talk of getting behind the wheel again was a light moment during IndyCar's upbeat presentation Tuesday at the North American International Auto Show. Josef Newgarden, the defending series champion, described the new car at length, saying he hopes it will be a step in the right direction in terms of safety, aesthetics and racing excitement. IndyCar CEO Mark...

Concept cars from Japan automakers offer glimpse into future

Jan 20, 2018

DETROIT — Japanese vehicle brands are exploring new design ideas — and figuring out what sets them apart from their U.S. and European rivals — with new prototype vehicles. Nissan, Infiniti and Lexus are all unveiling new concept cars at the Detroit auto show, which opens to the public Saturday. Concepts are used to test ideas and see how show visitors react. Some elements are glamorous but impractical, with sharply angled headlights or pencil-thin side mirrors that will never actually end up on a production vehicle. But other elements from concept cars do make it onto the road. Lexus's gaping...

New small cars unveiled at auto show but will anyone buy?

Jan 20, 2018

DETROIT — Among the many shiny models vying for attention at Detroit's North American International Auto Show are the revamped Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Veloster and Kia Forte. But cars — particularly small ones — are having a tough time getting buyers to look their way as SUVs grow in popularity. Car sales are expected to hit a record low this year after steadily declining for several years. SUVs surpassed cars for the first time in 2016, and the gap only widens: Auto shopping site Edmunds.com forecasts the utilities will make up 43.5 percent of new vehicle sales this year, while...
