Wholesale Truck Insurance Company Studies Effects of Icy Weather Conditions

California-based wholesale truck insurance agency analyzes highly dangerous scenarios drivers must face during this year’s unpredictable weather events.

Carlsbad, United States - February 14, 2018 /PressCable/ —

InsuranceTruck.com, a California-based “wholesale” truck insurance agency offering premium coverage for independent commercial agents/agencies and truck fleet owners, has been studying the effects on drivers who are struggling to transport cargo during this winter’s nationwide icy conditions. As winter 2018’s unpredictable wrath appears to be wreaking havoc on most of America’s roadways – dumping almost unheard-of amounts of ice, sleet, snow and icy rain in parts of the country that in the past never experienced such volumes – Insurance Truck representatives continue to stress why this is the most dangerous time of year for truck drivers.

“Not every driver will be facing driving conditions as seen on Ice Road Truckers, but even in areas where snow is a rare sight, preparation for unforeseen weather and driving conditions is key to survival,” states an Insurance Truck company spokesperson. “Experienced truck drivers always make the effort to prepare for winter weather driving by being ready to take action when the snow and ice hit hard; in determining that drivers are struggling to transport cargo in this winter’s icy conditions, we have collated driving safety tips to increase drivers’ chances of staying safe when severe weather creates poor road conditions.”

These tips include keeping an extra coat, gloves and hat in the truck, along with a few additional layers of clothing so warmth and comfort can be achieved quickly and on-the-fly; keeping an emergency kit consisting of extra water, a knife, dried fruit, high energy bars, first aid kit, jumper cables and flashlight; double-checking windshield wiper fluid and scrapers prior to hitting the road; keeping sand or salt in the truck to get the vehicle “unstuck” from an icy road; topping off the gas tank over half-full, which adds weight for better balance; and keeping extra batteries on hand for flashlights, radios, smartphones and other devices.

Insurance Truck representatives have stated that such horrific weather conditions, of course, make truck driving more challenging, and that drivers who prepare in advance with the aforementioned extra supplies, warm clothing, additional fuel and proper technology will be “a step ahead of the game.”

IndyCar's Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan are fast friends

Jun 23, 2018

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. — Weekends at IndyCar tracks are a little quieter this season for Scott Dixon. The outgoing Tony Kanaan isn't around anymore at Chip Ganassi Racing to share a laugh. Their friendship has lasted, though. "I think the thing I've commented on the most is probably how quiet it's been without TK," Dixon said. "He's a huge character and we had a ton of laughs with him around." Well, Kanaan might have one issue with Dixon. "I don't miss him beating me every weekend," Kanaan said this week with a smile. "But that's part of it. That's just...

Jun 23, 2018

LE CASTELLET, France — Lewis Hamilton was fastest in Friday's two practice sessions for the French Grand Prix, while his top rival struggled to figure out the unfamiliar track as Formula One returned to the country for the first time in a decade. Sebastian Vettel, who leads Mercedes driver Hamilton by one point after seven of 21 races this year, had trouble adapting to the 5.8-kilometer (3.6-mile) Paul Ricard Circuit and was fifth fastest in the morning and in the afternoon. The track, situated in wooded hills just inland from the Cote d'Azur, basked in the Mediterranean sun but was...

LE CASTELLET, France — Still glowing from his win at the 24 Hours Le Mans classic endurance race, Fernando Alonso says he is not sure when he will try to complete motorsport's unofficial Triple Crown with a victory at the Indianapolis 500. "I am still digesting a little bit the Le Mans win and (...) not taking too much into account (for) next year's project," Alonso said Thursday ahead of Formula One's French Grand Prix. "As I said last year when I entered the Indy 500, (it) was a very attractive target to achieve the Triple Crown," he said. "Obviously...

French GP: Vettel and Hamilton locked at top of F1

Jun 23, 2018

LE CASTELLET, France — Only one point separates Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton at the top of Formula One heading into the French Grand Prix. The pair of four-time champions have traded blows through the first seven races of the season. Just when one seems to get a slight edge in the title race, the other hits right back. Vettel won the first two races for Ferrari, only for Hamilton to steer his Mercedes to victory in Azerbaijan and Spain and invigorate his title defense. But when Hamilton appeared to have reestablished Mercedes' dominance, Vettel earned a commanding wire-to-wire victory...

Ricciardo mulling move from Red Bull to other F1 team

Jun 23, 2018

LE CASTELLET, France — Daniel Ricciardo says over the next six weeks he wants to decide between staying at Red Bull or joining another Formula One team for next year. Ricciardo said on Thursday at the French Grand Prix, "It would be nice to go on the summer break knowing what I am doing." F1 is working its way toward its three-week break in August with speculation mounting that Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren are interested in luring Ricciardo away from Red Bull for 2019. "I will be honest, everyone is talking about Mercedes and Ferrari as potential places for me...
