Rookie Rosenqvist claims 1st pole at IndyCar Grand Prix

Swedish rookie Felix Rosenqvist will start from the pole in Saturday's IndyCar Grand Prix after beating out teammate Scott Dixon in Friday's qualifying session

INDIANAPOLIS — Swedish rookie Felix Rosenqvist won the pole for Saturday's IndyCar Grand Prix by edging teammate Scott Dixon in qualifying Friday.

Rosenqvist finished with a fast lap of 1 minute, 8.2785 seconds. Dixon, of New Zealand, made it an all Chip Ganassi Racing front row with a time of 1:08.2979.

England's Jack Harvey will start third after making the first fast six of his IndyCar career with Meyer Shank Racing. Rookie Colton Herta starts fourth and defending race winner and three-time pole winner Will Power qualified sixth. Herta drives for Harding Steinbrenner Racing.

Power is the only Team Penske driver in the first three rows. Penske drivers have won four straight races on Indy's 2.439-mile, 14-turn road course.
