The results show that route availability and whole-journey practicality carry more weight in booking decisions than crossing fares alone.

Among respondents planning trips to France, a subgroup of 53, France emerged as the most planned ferry destination for the next 12 months. This pattern is concentrated among self-drive holidaymakers traveling with cars, campervans, pets and luggage, for whom the ferry is weighed primarily against the Channel Tunnel rather than against flying. The survey found that for these travelers, the comparison centers on the convenience of the entire road journey rather than on which option completes the crossing fastest.
