Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Dr. Opal Lee ' Grandmother of Juneteenth' Campaigns for Unity - Education

Fort Worth, Texas Mar 17, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Unity Unlimited, Inc sets forth a campaign to amplify Dr. Opal Lee's message that Juneteenth is a UNIFIER. Dr. Opal Lee was busy last week making history as she stopped by the White House at the invitation of President Biden to celebrate Black History Month.  

The following day, Dr. Opal jetted back to Texas to attend Sherrod Elementary's Read Across America Day organized by community activist Evelyn Dickerson, Preside of Eddie Dean Foundation. There she read her book accompanied by other celebrity guests such as Romero Hartfield of Millennium Multi-Media, Byron Williams, NFL Alumni President, and Jazze of the Dallas-based syndicated radio station 97.9 The Beat.

Later in the week, New York City's Harlem Councilwoman Kristin welcomed Dr.Opal as she released the special edition of her book, Juneteenth a Children's Story at Casa 51 where attendees were treated to authentic NY Pizza sponsored by Zaddy's Pizza.

Next up for Dr. Opal is to address Virginia Polytechnic Institute & Virginia State University, to speak as a part of their institution's celebration of 100 Years Women at Virginia Tech.

About Dr. Opal Lee

Dr. Opal is the oldest living board member of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF) founded and led by the late Dr. Ronald Myers, Sr., whose primary initiative is for Juneteenth to become a national holiday. To bring awareness to the cause, she started her Opal's Walks 2 DC campaign in 2016, where she walks 2.5 miles to symbolize the 2.5 years that it took for slaves in Texas to know that they were freed.
